1. Obtained Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 Beta. Installed over 7.10 Tribe 4.
2. Installed on Toshiba Laptop (made for Vista, that I deinstalled and installed XP Pro and Ubuntu on).
3. It works, just like before, but is more robust ofcourse than Tribe 4.
4. Just for kicks, right clicked on a folder in Ubuntu, and set it up to be shared over a Windows network (a non existant one at that)..
5. Went to my Windows 2000 equipped Thinkpad 600X, accessed my router to find the IP address for both laptops.
6. In about an hour of attempts, I got the Windows laptop to access the folder on Ubuntu, and I can now transfer files between Ubuntu and Windows, on a "Windows Network"..
7. Reboot the Ubuntu machine several times.. Each time the Windows machine reconnects and the folders can be used for sharing data. Kewl!!
Im wondering what I will be able to do for an encore? I read that in "Wine-Doors" Quake Wars Demo (maybe the full program) will work on Wine-Doors.. Okay, not today, this is enough for me..Maybe next time..
