In Ogre Battle, if youre able to get Canopus, getting Gilbert is usually a formality. This is the first time I have been unlucky enough to get Canopus and not Gilbert. I did not get kicked out of the stage. I did nothing "funny." Yet despite doing everything "right," Gilbert would not join. I had to play through the entire stage again to get him.
