REVIEWS:1) Just didn"t work, period: First, the registration failed to connect to the internet. Not the end of the world, but that was a tip as to how the rest of it would work.
It would not format with the firewire connected - it would only format with the USB connection to the computer (per maxtor"s web site). Once I got it formatted via USB, I tried to reconnect it via firewire 800, and the formatting was lost - the disk showed up as RAW file format. So I started over. The manual indicates a way to "erase" from the security settings section, but the option was not in the list for my installation. The only way to force a format was to change the Raid setting to Raid 1, then go back to Raid 0.
So I got it reformatted, and to top it all off, even connected via USB, the backup failed with a message that there was not enough disk space when trying to back up a 300GB disk on the computer with the Onetouch configured as Raid 0 (600GB) - actual formatted space was 558GB - that"s a lot of overhead.
I don"t know if I just got a bad one or what, but I"ve spent enough time on this. I"m going to give the WD Mybook a try instead.
